ArboApp
This application has been designed by four students of the degree of Early Childhood Education and Engineering of the University of the Basque Country.
The aim of this App is to publicize the arboretum located at the University of the Basque Country (Leioa). The arboretum is a museum of trees that are outdoors distributed and segregated by different continents. Through this application, what we want to achieve is to make this natural museum known in the most fun and interactive way possible. This application tries to make a tour of the origins of different trees as well as: Southern Hemisphere, Central America, Mediterranean and Asia.
The App itself, will be the one that will mark the route to be done showing at the beginning of the game a map where the points to follow appear. In addition, the application gives the opportunity to play in an online or physical way, as well as individually or collectively. This can be a good option for confined people, schools, groups or even families who want to visit or know the arboretum but cannot go there.
The application works as follows:
-
In the case that we are in a physical way in the arboretum, users will follow the route that the same App marks. In addition, they will have to be accompanied by their mobile devices to scan the QR code that has each tree in each area. Once the QR code has been scanned and the application has been approved, a curiosity of the tree will appear, followed by an activity related to the previously mentioned. In the case of matching the complete activity the user will get 20 points and in the case of not matching the first time, there will be another opportunity. At the end of each activity the points obtained will appear until the end of the game where the final points obtained will appear.
-
In the case that we are in an online way and we start the tour in a virtual way, the user will be able to follow all the route that is followed in the physical tour but from the screens. Once they have reached the area of each corresponding tree, a curiosity about that tree will appear again and then they will have to do the same activity that appears in the physical format of the previously mentioned information. The rules of the game are the same as in the physical game, i.e., in the case of getting all the activity right, the user will get 20 points and in the case of failing, there will be another opportunity.
Through this application, users can learn different curiosities about different trees from different continents in a different, fun and interactive way. They will also be able to work on their listening skills, as they will have to be very attentive to the information in order to successfully complete the activities.
